PBL Foundations in the Digital Age Classroom

This is a 5-day blended course that will address the principles of project-based learning as well as the 21st Century skills framework. By the end of this course, participants will have created a Project Based Learning unit to implement in the classroom. Participants will engage in an ongoing virtual learning community and complete a book study as part of the cohort. Successful completion of the course, book study and contributions to the virtual community will result in 30 hours of CPE credit. The first three days of training with be in person; the other two will be virtual.  $500 per participant

1/19 - 1/21 PBL Foundations for Educational Leaders (Texas STEM Conference) Project-Based Learning is a dynamic approach to teaching in which students explore real-world problems and challenges. With this type of active and engaged learning, students are inspired to obtain a deeper knowledge of the subjects they're studying. This session will be 90 mins. and is aimed at educational leaders and campus administrators. Participants will get an introduction to the PBL Framework, team building, and ultimately how to be an effective leader at a PBL campus.

1/27/17 Using the iPad to Encourage Writing (Grades 6-12) - ELAR Conference Encourage students to WRITE and CREATE documents by using iPad apps. From document templates and note taking apps, to poetry and story boarding apps, learn how to engage students using iPads by harnessing their creativity. There are many apps available but these are some of the easiest, effective and most fun for students.

02/03/17 At Home STEM Activities for You and Your Kids (Family & Community Engagement Conference) Get a snapshot into STEM while having fun. STEM stands for (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and is used to help prepare students for a future world that will be more technical than ever before. During this session you will learn two simple activities to use at home with your kids. One will use paper and scissors. The other will utilize Legos and a camera app. *Bringing your own devices is encouraged.

Makerspaces for Elementary

1/2 day sessions (AM) & (PM)

A makerspace is a movement. It's designed to give students content knowledge while being genuinely engaging. During this session you will experience 3 makerspace activities providing you opportunities to create and collaborate. This will be a half day session. You will leave with instructions on how to recreate these same activities with your students. $75

2/16/16 ActivInspire Basics ActivInspire is the luxury SUV of interactive whiteboard software. If you use an ActivBoard in your classroom this training is essential in getting you started. During this session you will learn basic classroom management strategies and how to begin creating fun student engagement activities. Upon leaving this session you will have the skill to begin using your ActivBoard to create an ActivClassroom! $150
