WIndows Minimum Requirements:

  • Operating System: Windows XP and later
  • CPU: Pentium 3, 500Mhz
  • System Memory (RAM): 512MB
  • Hard Disk: 500MB free space
  • Network Speed: 128 Kbits/sec
  • Graphics Card: DirectX9 and 3D capable with 64MB of VRAM
  • Screen: 1024x768, "16-bit High Color" - DirectX 9 (to run in Direct X mode)
  • Mail: Outlook 2007+ is required for email functionality

Windows Recommended System Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 7 and 8
  • CPU: Pentium 4 2.4GHz+ or AMD 2400xp+
  • System Memory (RAM): 1GB+

When first opening Google Earth, you may wish to customize how items display on your screen. Click on the VIEW menu in order to add or remove items from screen view.

On the left side of your screen are Panels which can be maximized or minimized in order to give you a better screen view. In the lower panel, LAYERS, you have the ability to turn on and off a wide variety of overlays. The overlay icons will appear on the earth as you zoom in. Be careful not to include too many overlays at one time or your loading speed could be affected. Here is a basic set of layers you may wish to begin with:
